Middle School Cross Country is open to all students in grades 6-8. New runners are welcome; no experience is necessary!

Practices will be held Monday-Thursday and most Fridays. Practice will begin at the soccer field.

Students wishing to participate must do the following:

  • Have a physical dated after April 15, 2022. Have your doctor fill out the TSSAA physical form. Forms are available on the school website; go to Students -> Athletics. Or, you can print a blank physical form from Dragonfly, (see below).
  • We will be using the Dragonfly system for athletic paperwork. See instructions to sign up for an account. Our school code is: 6F9EBM. You can upload your physical to the site and fill out all other forms electronically.
  • Please read East Hamilton's Student-Parent Participation Info.
  • Please read the Student- Parent Contract.
  • Bring the $30 fee to the first practice or pay it online.

Summer Conditioning: I will be offering optional summer conditioning sessions at the middle school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:00pm and at the high school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00-10:00am. Conditioning will start July 11. Come dressed to run and bring a water bottle!

At the middle school: Meet at the soccer field in front of the school.

At the high school (2015 Ooltewah-Ringgold Rd): Meet at the track (at the back of the school.)

Students who did not participate in a middle school sport last year will need to have their physical submitted in order to participate in conditioning sessions. Students who had a physical on file last year do not need to turn in a new one until the first day of school.

Come to whichever sessions fit your schedule! I am offering conditioning at different times of day and locations to make it convenient for more people; I do not expect you to come to all of them, especially if you are new.

These sessions are not required but are a great way to get in shape before the season starts. They are helpful to new runners by giving them a chance to start running gradually, just a few days a week, before the season officially starts. This gradual start can prevent injuries which sometimes occur when students new to sports suddenly start training 4 or 5 days a week. And summer conditioning gives experienced runners more time to train and get into top shape before meets begin.

Please have parents sign up to get notices through Remind. I will be using it to send out information about changes in the practice schedule and info about meets. Sign up at Remind.com. Our class code is @93aegc.

The first official day of practice will be Wednesday August 10 (first day of school). Practices will be held from 2:30-3:45. Meet at the soccer field (at the front of the school.) Students can change in the locker room or a restroom before coming outside or restrooms are also available at the soccer field. Make sure to bring a water bottle.

 Coming later this summer!

Uniforms: Students need to purchase a singlet (tank top) to wear at meets if they don't already have one from previous XC or track seasons. They can supply their own shorts, preferably black. Or, they can order shorts from Sports Spectrum. All other items are optional. Please note, that while the singlets and shorts usually arrive in time for our first meet, other items often are not delivered until later.

Order deadline is early, in order to get uniforms in time for our first meet.
