Calendar

Middle School Cross Country is open to all students in grades 6-8. New runners are welcome; no experience is necessary!

Students wishing to participate must do the following:

  • Turn in the following forms: Physical, Consent, Concussion, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest
  • Forms are available on the school website; go to Students -> Athletics.
  • Note: the physical must be dated after April 15, 2023.  Make sure to turn in page 5 of the physical and verify that your doctor has checked the box marked "Medically Eligible...." The Consent form is page 6 of physical document. Please bring paper forms to practice. We will not be using Dragonfly as in previous years.
  • Please read the EHMS Student-Parent Athletic Contract -NEW!!
  • Bring the $30 fee to the first practice, check or cash (exact change).

Summer Conditioning: I will be offering optional summer conditioning sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5pm and on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-10am during the weeks of July 10-21. All practices will be at the middle school. Meet at the soccer field and bring a water bottle. These are NOT official practices and are NOT a requirement for joining the team but are a great way to get in shape.

Students who did not participate in a middle school sport last year will need to have their physical submitted in order to participate in conditioning sessions. Students who had a physical on file last year do not need to turn in a new one until the first official day of practice, (July 24).

Come to whichever sessions fit your schedule! I am offering conditioning at different times of day to make it convenient for more people; I do not expect you to come to all of them, especially if you are new.

These sessions are not required but are a great way to get in shape before the season starts. They are helpful to new runners by giving them a chance to start running gradually, just a few days a week, before the season officially starts. This gradual start can prevent injuries which sometimes occur when students new to sports suddenly start training 4 or 5 days a week. And summer conditioning gives experienced runners more time to train and get into top shape before meets begin.

Please have parents sign up to get notices through Remind. I will be using it to send out information about changes in the practice schedule and info about meets. Sign up at Remind.com. Our class code for the 2023 list is @972e2b
