Legge, Amanda

Hello! My Name Is...

Mrs. Amanda Legge (Luh-gee), M.Ed.

2022-2023 is my first year at EHMS! I am excited to join the East Ham Fam as a 6th-grade ELA teacher.

This is my 14th year in the classroom. I have worked in grades 4-6 at Cleveland Middle School, Ooltewah Elementary, and Westview Elementary.

Before becoming a teacher, I enjoyed many different jobs! I worked in marketing/public relations for an airport, as a radio news anchor/talk show host, video/TV production on Music Row in Nashville, and costuming/lighting/sound in professional theatre in Nashville/surrounding cities (including Opryland, Ryman Auditorium, and the General Jackson boat). In college, I was a manager for what is now called Game Stop.

Most of my work has centered on writing. Over the last year, I have written the curriculum for Tailor-ed.com for grades 3-5. While in radio, I won an Associated Press (AP) award for a story I wrote. I also won a Freshman writing award from MTSU. In high school, I won a play-writing contest for a local theatre.

I received my M.Ed. from UTC. My B.S. in Communications (minors: English & Psychology) is from MTSU.

I have been married for 25 years. I have three children: 23, 18, and 8. We have lived in Ooltewah since 2006, the longest I have lived anywhere! I have also lived in Tri-Cities, Murfreesboro, and Franklin in Tennessee. As a child, I lived in Rochester, Michigan and Springfield, Ohio.
