Colvin, Melissa

Hello My Name Is...

Melissa Colvin

I am the Media Specialist and this is my second year working in the library! I am here to assist students in the library and provide support with media and technology. Prior to working in the library, I taught Language Arts since 2006 serving grades 6-8. My career as an educator began in Philadelphia, PA at the University of Pennsylvania where I obtained my Master's in Secondary Education. I also have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh. Since I the start of my career in education, I have made my way down the East Coast having also taught in Maryland and Georgia. My husband and I have always loved Chattanooga, so we decided to put down roots here. I enjoy hiking the beautiful trails of Chattanooga with my husband or working on a crossword puzzle while lounging around with my cats and a cup of coffee.

Fun Fact about me: I got married in Kodiak, Alaska and it is one of my favorite places to visit! And I foster kittens in order get them ready for adoption.

I look forward to cultivating the new library into a welcoming space which serves to foster a love of reading and academic exploration for our students.
