Mark Pace
Mark Pace teaches 8th grade English language arts and is the assistant coach for the girls basketball program. He comes to teaching from a career in journalism where he worked in the greater St. Louis area, Washington, DC, and Chattanooga, covering the Chattanooga area's vibrant outdoors scene and environmental news for the Times Free Press. He was the recipient of the Tennessee Wildlife Federation's 2017 Conservation Communicator of the Year award and the 2018 Tennessee Associated Press award for best outdoors reporting. He also placed highly in a trio of notable awards for investigative work uncovering a history of misconduct by a former Chattanooga police officer. Prior, he was the lead reporter for the Jersey County Journal and Calhoun News-Herald in Jerseyville, Illinois where he won first place awards at the Illinois Press Association for best news reporting and best general news photo. He studied at the Washington Journalism Center (now the New York Semester in Journalism) and interned as a business and political reporter for The Washington Times. Mark graduated from Lee University in May 2015 with a degree in journalism and again in 2021 with a Masters of Arts in Teaching. He is originally from Dayton, Ohio and is married to his high school sweetheart, Kim, who works in public accounting at LBMC in Brentwood, Tennessee. Together, they have two children: Kyle and Madison.
