Steps to Retirement Planning:

  • Submit your retirement application in the TCRS portal

 

HCS Retirement Benefits:

 

Medical Insurance

  • Retiree must meet retirement eligibility with TCRS and be under age 65 to continue the retiree medical plan.  Retiree and dependents must be currently on medical plan to continue plan after retirement.  Retiree and spouses may remain on medical plan until age 65 and dependents until age 26.  

  • Retirees and dependents on our medical plan are eligible to use our clinics and pharmacies. 

  • Medical premium rates are based on years of service with Hamilton County Schools.   

  • At age 65, retirees and/or dependent spouses currently on our health plan will transition to Medicare on the first day of their birthday month.  If their birthday is on the 1st of the month they will go to Medicare the month prior on the 1st of the month.  

Dental and Vision Insurance:

  • Dental and Vision plans may be continued for 18 months following retirement through COBRA.  Retiree and dependents currently on these plans can continue through COBRA. 

Payment and Billing Information:

  • Payments for retiree medical, dental and vision will be sent to our COBRA administrator, The TASC Group. 
  • Retirees who are eligible to continue medical, dental and vision benefits will be sent information about making the elections form our COBRA administrator.  Once elections are made, retirees will receive information about billing and payments from The TASC Group.  Payments will be made on a monthly basis.  Retirees will have the option to pay by check or the online portal with a debit or credit card.
